Structure and Function: Acetyl-CoA acyltransferase (ACAA1), also called 3-ketoacyl-CoA thiolase, is involved in peroxisomal fatty acid oxidation. It catalyzes the cleavage of 3 ketoacyl CoA to release acetyl-CoA and shortens the acyl CoA by 2 carbons. No pathogenic mutations of this enzyme have been reported.
