Structure and Function: DCXR is an oxidoreductase enzyme that catalyzes the NADH-dependent reduction of several pentoses, tetroses, alpha-dicarbonyl compounds and L-xylulose. DCXR is part of the uronate cycle in glucose metabolism and is highly expressed in kidney and liver. Weak expression or not expressed in brain and heart tissue.
